Bristol In:Motion New Years Eve
This year In:Motion upped the game. Since its opening weekend back in October, the Bristol based party power-house has proved itself to be a musical melting pot. Every Friday and Saturday it has delivered a string of sell-out shows bringing together an awe-inspiring music policy alongside quality production all housed within the city’s esteemed riverside skate park, Motion.
Now reaching the halfway mark, there is still more to come with In:Motion’s New Years Eve line-up one of the strongest in the country. The jewel of Hospitality’s crown, High Contrast returns to finish the season with as much effect as when he opened it back in October. Visionquest come down in force as the new generation of Detroit producers who have been defining a unique sound of their own, fresh from their episode of the infamous fabric mix series. Wunderkind Tensnake slithers over to the city to deliver one of his renowned disco-infused house sets and Bristol’s own Redlight joins to bring his own indefinable yet infectious style. Plus super-interactive, high-energy festival stage, The Dance-Off is set to lead us into the bright lights of 2012.
Sooner still, DJ Derek is now also on the bill with Beardyman on the 9th December. Derek Morris is a 64-year-old former accountant from Bristol with a penchant for cardigans, long subsidised bus journeys and is also a cult hero cult hero in the world of Jamaican Reggae. His blend of reggae, dub and ska has made him an icon for several Jamaican producers and also, Massive Attack.
The bar is already set sky high for these final shows, following previous highlights from Jamie Jones playing the opening weekend, Soul Clap tripping the electricity from the sweat dripping off the walls in the tightly packed tunnel, the first live performance in the series from Jamie Woon, and DJ Yoda's AV show at Blowpop captivating clubbers in a crowd including Damon Albarn and 3D from Massive Attack with Katy B coming down the night after.
Ms Dynamite stormed the stage at Shit The Bed!, Zinc’s show for Rinse was an explosion of energy and the Gunpowder plot saw sparks fly with performances from Gypsy Hill integrated with circus performers suspended from the ceiling. Just Jack brought some theatre to the their Halloween night as In:Motion’s Rag had his hair shaved live on stage after the forces of facebook made it so.
With just over a month until the series comes to an end for another year, Bloc, Futureboogie, Shit The Bed, Beardyman Presents and Cocoon are still to make their entrance and take over Bristol for their nights, ensuring to be every bit as heavy hitting and memorable than those have gone before them.
