With Matthew Dear playing us the last record for 2011’s series, its time to look ahead to next year to see who we’re going to be spending A Night With…
The last two years have brought some legendary and iconic names to the A Night With… series such as Derrick Carter, Andrew Weatherall, Miss Kittin, Michael Mayer, Steve Bug, Ellen Allien and Magda. Each artists has played for a full eights hours completely unsupported letting us into the depths of their record collections and taking us on a musical education whilst demonstrating their passions, skills and sounds.
2012 only goes further in bringing the talent to the table as we can announce forthcoming Nights With… from 2011’s biggest DJ Jamie Jones, fresh from coming top of the Resident Advisor, DJ Mag and Mixmag charts, Visionquest's own visionary Seth Troxler, and fabric’s artist in resident and London favourite Craig Richards.
Kicking the 2012 parties off will be Sebo K at Basing House on the 11th February. Renowned for merging cutting edge sounds with vintage accents, Sebo K is both mobilee’s longest serving artist and its beating heart of house music. His melodic tech-house grooves like "Moved" and his "Rancho Relaxo" collaboration with Anja Schneider, have provided some of the imprint's musical highlights. He’s also mixed up the label's Back Up Vol 1 compilation, remixed (Watergate 04). He’s a unique and influential figure within Berlin’s densely populated music community; both crowd-pleasing and credible, he is a bona fide tastemaker who distinguishes himself by exploring the connective threads between classics from Chicago and Detroit, and modern European tech house, minimal, and rolling percussive grooves.
However, it's his DJing that's arguably his real forte, stemming from a long career behind the decks that started at Alec Empire's Berlin-based Bass Terror parties in the '90s. After embarking upon study for the past three years, he has recently upped the ante in terms of club appearances with his residency for internationally renowned Berlin club Watergate since 2002 as well as Panorama Bar in Berlin, Rex Club in Paris
Effortlessly transitioning from deep soulfulness, to tough stripped-down sounds, and back again, Sebo K has reinforced the enduring importance of house music throughout the perpetual cycles of trends, and this ability to command a club crowd has been equaled by his exceptional productions.
