On the 7th August James Zabiela will mark his era defining 10th year residency at We Love…, Space, Ibiza. With his deep understanding of what makes electronic music tick as well as constantly pushing the technical side of his art, both in the studio and during live performances James has become synonymous with the We Love… brand, growing alongside it, where they have now both reached magnanimous status.
“My best club night memory at We Love… is hard to pin point because I´ve done so many amazing gigs there now, to say one is impossible. My birthday there last year was a pretty special gig although this years is shaping up to top that.” James Zabiela
Hailing from Southampton, James Zabiela has been an influential part of the electronic music scene since the early noughties and considered one of the most prolific DJs and producers on the planet. In that time he has shaped a house sound which fuses breakbeat influences and tech-house elements, and has remixed the likes of Royksopp Ladytron, Sasha and Radiohead. Having been invited to mix multiple compilations for Renaissance, he has established himself as a significant contributor to the electronic music landcsape. In 2006 James was awarded the People´s Choice accolade as ´Best International DJ´ at the Australian Dance Music Awards. In 2007 he was awarded the Best British DJ at the DJ Mag Best of British DJ Awards while 2007 and 2008 saw James sit in the top 20 of the world famous DJ Mag Top 100. Last year he released his 2010 single ‘Blame’ following 100,000 hits on YouTube and has recently been in the studio with Hot Chip pushing even further into more musical corners. To thank him for the music, he has been given something of a special gift , from his We Love…family, complete free reign to programme the Discoteca. For this, he calls on his friends and favourites.
Acclaimed techno producer Apparat, aka Sascha Ring, has a pedigree in electronica that is second to none. The Berlin-based producer operates with fellow Germans Modeselektor as Moderat, has worked with BPitch Control boss Ellen Allien on the acclaimed Orchestra of Bubbles and has also released three solo albums of his own. Having released his DJ Kicks compilation last year, his new album entitled ‘The Devil’s Work’, is released through Mute in September. Pearson Sound/Ramadanman has been one of the foremost figures in bass and electronic music over the past year or so. He found a bountiful niche for himself in amongst the circuitry of 808s and 909s to produce ‘Work Them’, ‘Glut’ and ‘Blanked’ three of his finest singles to date, and tracks that found almost as many fans in the European house and techno hierarchy as they did the UK scene. He’s also contributed one of the most highly acclaimed fabric mix of recent times and with the young producer´s label Hessle Audio he has his own residency at the famed London club. It’s not surpise then that he crosses the water to take on the stage at Space.
Tom Budden has been a leading force at the forefront of the UK’s south coast house and techno scene for a number of years. Presenting a thoroughly modern sound that has furrowed paths at both the deeper and the more driving end of the spectrum, his DJ sets are renowned for being tuned perfectly to precision for the vibe, the venue and time of night or indeed day. In 2008 he launched his own label, the respected ALiVE Recordings and over the past two years the label has grown into a highly respected label within the industry, with releases from artists around the globe picking up plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Danny Howells, Milton Jackson and Steve Angello.
Spektre (live) complete Zabiela’s self-programmed Discoteca night. Playing live, they weave an intrepid, complex web amongst underground dance music´s elite. The techno brainchild of DJs/producers Filthy Rich and Paul Maddox, the dark duo was formed through a shared passion for driving electronic music and a mutual desire to push sound boundaries using the most cutting edge technology around. The fusion of their combined experience in the studio allows them to construct dark, sinister sounds mixed with twisted, haunting vocals and unnerving, atmospheric foundations.
Zabiela, a true We Love… legend and a DJ truly reflective of their sound. We can’t think of anyone else’s more capable hands we’d rather leave the Discoteca in.
