UK duo Jozef K & Winter Son return to Skint Records with an EP that is a celebration of underground rave culture, with music heavyweight Kim Ann Foxman supplying a high energy remix.
“We took a break from the world, locking ourselves away in a cold, dark basement studio surrounded with vintage analogue hardware and forgotten magic spells; our happy place. This was the end product. Made straight from the heart with blood, sweat & tears.” Jozef K & Winter Son
Jozef K & Winter Son create music for rapturous moments. Unconscious Rebellion packs a punch letting the piano, rhythms and feminine vocal shine through in all of their glory. Brooklyn based Kim Ann Foxman is known for creating nostalgia in her records, digging back to the best of her youth in her take on Unconscious Rebellion, this is a sublime lesson in remixing. Flipping the mood of the EP, Eternity is Past is made for those darker moments, with an intoxicating bassline and the same female vocal to create a real sense of intimacy.
Kim Ann Foxman is one of the most established female DJs and producers in house and techno music and a long term supporter of the UK duo Jozef K & Winter Son, having released their ‘Tribal Rhythm EP’ on her own Firehouse Recordings in 2015. Connecting through a mutual love of rave music from yesteryear, it’s a fitting collaboration.
Manchester born Jozef K became the resident of global brand Sankeys at just 19 and subsequently toured the world as a DJ with a series of releases across high profile labels. Winter Son aka Thomas Ragsdale had a busy 2016 releasing music with his band worriedaboutsatan and creating scores for film and TV.
