A fine mixture of house heritage and contemporary techno culture, Shlomi Aber enlists the legendary DJ Sneak for his next EP on his own imprint Be As One.
This is music geared towards a climactic frenzy on the dancefloor. Firmly rooted in the richer side of the techno sound, Shlomi Aber’s version of ‘After Touch’ is a beast of weapon with a feverish build up and fist inducing breakdowns. Shlomi manages to create a sound that is both tough and warm as fierce techno bass melts into soaring synths.
On the flip, DJ Sneak’s take is filled with his trademark booty-shaking, bass-heavy beats and frenetic rhythms. Still booming with techno edge but driven by a house vibe, Sneak’s version is a propulsive tech groove with plenty of funk and sex appeal. Taking on an epic track length, you’ll be addicted from start to finish with this typically Sneaky caper.
Needing very little introduction, DJ Sneak was a pioneer of house music as the Chicago sound started to dominate in the 90s ultimately bringing revolutionary styles and rhythms to the music he already adored. Widely known as the disco filter innovator – a signature sound based on disco filtered house grooves and inspiration to pillars of the electronic community Daft Punk and Basement Jaxx, Sneak’s work today is faithful to his old school passions and yet remains relevant to house heads worldwide.
Tel-Aviv based Shlomi has gained a reputation as one of techno’s most forward-thinking artists. He was selected as Beatport´s artist of the year for 2008 and received a Worldwide DJ Awards nomination placing Shlomi in the first tier of electronic music artists. In 2010, his ‘Majestic’ EP on Dennis Ferrer’s Objectivity label won him critical acclaim and his second artist album ‘Chicago Days/ Detroit Nights’ including a collaboration with Detroit producer Kenny Larkin was released on Ovum Recordings. An album of remixes is due out in April 2011 featuring Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Marcel Dettmann, Josh Wink, Michel Cleis, Kenny Dope (MAW), Ian Pooley, Alix Alvarez, Paul Ritch, Santos and Timo Mass. Established in 2007, Shlomi’s own imprint Be As One continually aims to release stand out tracks of the true underground.
