Hot Creations’ dancefloor domination continues as they dish out the next release from Igor Vicente and Vernon Bara as Ultrasone. One of the most promising duos to arrive on the scene this year, their heady work out ‘Breathe N Pop’ is a heaving mass of loopy dirty house grooves with a deliciously sleazy pop streak.
As with most Hot Creations, the power of the dream team at the helm lies in their affinity with the party front line and an undeniable ear for talent and music that is accessible, fun and totally slick. ‘Breathe N Pop’ is already a highly awaited release since slaying dancefloors at the hands of Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones this summer. Igor & Vernon, amazed at the power of the record soon saw the track snapped up by Hot Creations and the result is a wickedly dirty duo of bangers that will no doubt reach fever pitch this closing summer season.
Title track ‘Breathe N Pop’ takes a hold with a beast of a bassline, the brooding force against the flying sonic sparks. As momentum builds with wonky FX and shakers and bumping bass beats, the pulsing 90s jam sample struts to the fore and that Q-Tip snippet makes for an irresistible break and drop.
‘Spiral Reserve’ bridges the gap between the duo’s last release on Visionquest and their subsequently playful chopping of sounds, heralding Ultrasone’s versatility in style. All about the rolling percussion the b-side is flush with rattling rhythms and dynamite drumming, with a low-key b-line rumbling underneath. The voice that descends from outer space breathes a haunting message through the richly textured layers of an impermeable chugging groove.
Belgium born Igor Vicente and Vernon Bara were early party friends in their hometown of Mons and after a string of solo projects, have since developed a potent musical partnership in Ultrasone. Bara has already stacked up over 200 productions and remixes on labels such as OM, OFF, Robsoul and Toys For Boys and Igor Vicente runs one of Belgium’s most successful underground parties ‘Wildfamily’. Making an invaluable contribution to the Visionquest Spring Club Collection earlier this year with ‘Don’t Feel No Way’, Igor and Vicente now return officially as Ultrasone to a label known for mixing it up as much as they do.
