‘Aquarian Exposition’ is an electronic homage to the legendary 60's Woodstock festival, citing the name given on the original event poster. Featuring two original cuts from Magicbag’s own Death On The Balcony, plus two hot remixes from Soul Clap and Gavin Herlihy, this pre-empts the forthcoming Death On The Balcony artist album due mid Autumn 2010 on Magicbag music.
‘Clean Air’ & ‘Joplin’ both take samples from the Woodstock festival, capturing the mystique of the inspiring event. ‘Clean Air’ takes its name from the words of a hippy, remarking on the 6000-year-old practise of yoga breathing and meditation, and claims to getting high on clean air. His observations are fleshed out with warm pads, lightly textured drum patterns and delightful cadences.
Gavin Herlihy reworks the track with bags of dancefloor punch, climatic breakdowns and unapologetic drive. Renowned for a string of high profile releases on Cadenza, Kindische and Leftroom, he embellishes ‘Clean Air’ with his unique stamp of production.
Next up, ‘Joplin’ samples the mighty Janis Joplin spoken interlude from performing at Woodstock festival, engaging with the mellow and kind-hearted words, "How are you out there is everybody ok, your stayin stoned, you've got enough water and place to sleep and everything." More high-octane vocals streak the smooth flavour of this production sealing in a mysterious and electrifying tone to the cut.
Soul Clap work their magic into ‘Joplin’, their expert skills manipulating the levels, remaking a lively party atmosphere and appealing to the more mischievious moments of the night. The digital release will also house a bonus Freestyle Soul Clap mix and two cuts from label mate Youandewan and fellow Leeds nu-disco brothers PBR Streetgang.
