Jordan Peak
Mean Streets

One Records jump from strength to strength with next year looking set to be the biggest yet for the unfaltering imprint. Kicking off 2012 with a flying start is the next release on the label coming from wonder boy Jordan Peak, a name to keep a close eye on in the new year and a firm favourite in the One Records camp. ‘Mean Streets’ offers two original tracks from Jordan full of solid house groove, with heavy remixes coming at the hands of Sishi Rosch and Chris Carrier.

Title track Mean Streets’ is full of chunky kicks and classics vocal hooks, all bursting with depth and warmth but holding onto the straight up house style that young Mr. Peak has mastered to a fine art. This perfect peak time affair will destroy any dance floor with its infectious groove and tight rhythm.

Done Did’, the second original track from Jordan, is laced with pure analogue grooves seamlessly melded with jackin’ Chicago drum workouts to create all-original percussive passages. The synth layers glide over the rolling grooves creating a real classic vibe yet spinning a modern edge on this dance floor treat.

Over on the B-side, Frenchman Chris Carrier steps in for the first of the two remixes. No stranger to the One Records crew, Carrier recently released on One010 alongside both Jordan and Sishi. His remix of ‘Mean Streets’ is full of sonic naughtiness, with eerie synths and swirling vocals that permeate the outer layers, while a surging force and energy drives this muscular dance floor weapon, keeping it deep with a raw, acid –tinted bass line.

Rounding off this solid package is Barcelona’s fresh prevailing talent and One Records family member Sishi Rosch. Bringing the tempo down low Sishi spins his dark and moody trademark onto the original ‘Mean Streets’, with a warping base, haunting synth structures and heavy-duty percussions. Added vocals embedded within the layers of melodics add to this special delivery of modern electronica.

At such an early stage in his career, Jordan Peak has been storming the underground dance scene being tipped as ‘One to Watch’ on BBC Radio1 and Mixmag and being nominated as the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ in the DJ Mag Awards. Next year looks set to be bigger yet with upcoming releases on Robsoul, Morris Audio, Klasse Recordings and House Sound Recording, with remixes for DJ W!ld on Jonk, JMX on 2020 Vision and Nick Lawson on Back To You and for Argy’s album on Ibadan.
